Replace? No! Step In As The Face Of Boxing When He Retires? Absolutely!
Replacing him would require him to BEAT MAYWEATHER which he couldn't do, but he can wait in line until he retires and then step in and take those dates which I think will likely happen. HBO is not going head to head with Mayweather, I think Oscar and Canelo are just talking and hoping maybe that will get Mayweather to move but I doubt it will work. Canelo and Oscar will bow down and wait until 2016 once Mayweather contract is over. Cotto not going to take demands from Canelo, because Cotto don't NEED Canelo, who's to say Cotto won't want the fight in NY, MSG in June on HIS DAY? Just something to think about...
That being said, Canelo has a head start over the other young fighters because he already been on PPV multiple times so going into the next generation fighters will be coming after him for the Big Pay Days which a lot of them are already calling him out. Just not sure if Canelo has the talent or skills to maintain that #1 Spot or to Maintain being the "NEXT FACE OF BOXING".
