Replace? No! Step In As The Face Of Boxing When He Retires? Absolutely!

Replacing him would require him to BEAT MAYWEATHER which he couldn't do, but he can wait in line until he retires and then step in and take those dates which I think will likely happen. HBO is not going head to head with Mayweather, I think Oscar and Canelo are just talking and hoping maybe that will get Mayweather to move but I doubt it will work. Canelo and Oscar will bow down and wait until 2016 once Mayweather contract is over. Cotto not going to take demands from Canelo, because Cotto don't NEED Canelo, who's to say Cotto won't want the fight in NY, MSG in June on HIS DAY? Just something to think about...

That being said, Canelo has a head start over the other young fighters because he already been on PPV multiple times so going into the next generation fighters will be coming after him for the Big Pay Days which a lot of them are already calling him out. Just not sure if Canelo has the talent or skills to maintain that #1 Spot or to Maintain being the "NEXT FACE OF BOXING".

Why can't hater see what Canelo is doing is good for The fans. This may be the only thing that forces Floyd to fight Pacquiao. If they fight on the same weekend that is the only fight bigger than
      Canelo/Cotto.

Props to him for taking back the Mexican flight dates for a Mexican fighter. That is how it should be, and all the Hispanics will watch a hispanic fighter on those dates over Floyd unless he continually makes the fights we want to see.

It's a good thing because it puts pressure on Floyd to make the right fights.

In the end the fans win we get to see the fights we want to see from both fighters , and If were shelling out all this money forPPV we should get the fights we want.

Disagree DeLaHoya knows that if there any day Hispanics will follow the Hispanic fighter it's these especially since there OUR HOLIDAYS!

maybe not everyone but the Hispanics will follow and that is a HUGE portion of Floyd's audience especially on those days. Floyd knows how important the Hispanic crowd is, which is why he tries to playcate to us so much, but given the choice were not pickin him over Canelo ESPECIALLY if it's not Pacquiao and he continually put on lack luster fights.

I'll be watchin Canelo/Cotto even if Floyd does fight PAC on Cinco de Mayo.

I don't get why people are mad. This type of competition could be good for boxing. Both fighters will be force to fight good opponents. Maybe May jr. will fight Pacquiao or fight a non flat footed fighter with decent speed that can trouble him. And canelo can fight GGG. Also those who say that dates aren't important are kidding themselves. Thease dates are the money making dates. If they weren't, FMJ would not have been fighting on them for the last 9 fights. Why not fight on a weekend on black history month. Or any other date celebrated by African Americans. Just saying.

Canelo hasn't looked impressive in his last 3 of 4 fights, and arguably lost his last 3 of 4. New face of boxing? Safe to say probably not.

This kid must be snorting coke and wearing fishnets like his promoter Oscar if he thinks once Floyd retires he can just be the man. There's too many other fighters out there that are more than a cut above this boy. If a guy gives him some movement and counters him he'll get frustrated and start swinging at the ring ropes like he did against Floyd. GBP will spend a lot of millions to continue to make sure this limited skilled kid continues to win. He lost to Lara plain and simple!!!!!!!! I don't care what people say about Lara using his legs since that's part of boxing. If he's so damn good he should've been able to cut off the ring and corner Lara but he doesn't know how. His trainer and the other's around him are as limited as he is and can only prepare this kid fi r a stationary fighter. He'll be the face of boxing alright, he'll be that guy face down like Pacroid was against Marquez. ......

With that logic, shouldn't a Mexican be fighting in Mexico?
Are you implying that there's no Mexicans to entertain in the USA where all the big money is at?
