He wasn't taking slaps, he was getting hammered with massive right hands, jabs and hooks from a Mayweather who packed a good punched at that weight.

His face was a complete mess and the power shots he was taking constantly were savage.

Lacy and Pavlik got embarrassed, Gatti got battered.
If Lacy wasn't totally battered in that fight, then I can't imagine who else was.

He did receive a bit if a beating, of course.

However, it wasn't the same. There were several points in the Gatti-Mayweather fight that I was wincing as huge shots were thudding off his head. Lacy was getting hit with a lot of shots that mounted up, Gatti was getting savaged with power shots constantly.

For my money, he took a bigger beating in half of that fight than Lacy did in a full fight.

        floyd-gatti.

hopkins-pavlik wasnt as much a beating as just a boxing lesson, it was the most impressive win of the three by far as it was against the best fighter by far. but as far as beatings go it was the least severe.

calzaghe-lacy lasted longer than mayweather-gatti and as a result lacy took more punches. but gatti took more brutal punches, was even more outclassed and lets not forget halted within the distance.

lacy got outboxed early and then beat up towards the end as he got tired. gatti got beat up from the first bell and was getting hurt every single round. it didnt last as long, but thats for a reason. that reason being he took a much worse beating to the point where he couldnt continue.

          Zags-Lacy for me.

On that night Calzaghe beats any man that has ever lived. The handspeed, power, and stamina he showed was God like.

Everybody beat Gatti down that way, Oscar absolutely murdered him years earlier.

I'd have to pick either of the other 2

De La Hoya - Gatti , is the real winner.

Gatti was a dead ass duck by the time Floyd kicked his ass.

              No disrespect. RIP.

Yeah, if he beat Jeff Lacy who else in boxing history would have even had a chance?

                  Battered.

                  For 12 rounds.

Gatti was only in there for 6... he may of taken some harder p4p shots, but it over in 24 mins.
he wasnt beat up for 12 rounds, he was outboxed early and got beat up towards the end when he slowed down. even that had as much do with his poor stamina carrying all that bulk as it was the punches he was taking.

gatti was beaten up from the first round to the last, he was getting hurt consistently from the first round to both body as well as the head. the reason it only lasted 24min was because he couldnt continue while lacy managed to finish on his feet, even as he was completely exhausted in the last couple of rounds. only then did joe begin to batter him but still failed to get him out of there.

no doubt floyd dished out much more punishment in the 6 rounds it lasted then calzaghe did over 12 rounds, no doubt whatoever. lacy took a beating too of course, but not like gatti. gatti was hurt every round, cracked with huge shots every couple of seconds.

gatti was well past it when floyd and dlh battered him. obviously he was never in there league but he had some descent wins before that and was a good fighter. pretty crappy to talk down about a guy that gave so much in the ring and entertained us with great action
