This is not true, TopRank presented Chavez Jr with the option of taking the fight without a contract extension, nobody tried strong arming anyone into anything.

Im on Chavez side. Promoters have been doing the extension trick for years. When your contract is up, they have you sign the extension and it keeps going on and on forever. Bradley's dumbazz fell for it. Chavez was willing to sign anything that didnt involve an extension. But without the extension the amount of money was waaaay low for a GGG fight.

I give Chavez credit for outsmarting the promoter. I feel he should have taken the deal. But at the same time its not about the deal being decent its about "All you have to do is extend and...."

He just didnt fall for it. So I give him the W for outslicking the promoter. Arum tried to give him all types of good offers but as long as the word extension was apart of it, Chavez wouldnt budge. But without the extension it was 2 mil????

That lowball offer was purely out of bitterness to me.

That's ******ed. Chavez has his manager Billie Keen to explain contracts and prevent his promoters from lying to him.

That's why I'm skeptical when guys like Ward, Garcia, and Guerrero sue their promoters. Out of nowhere they have all these grievances that somehow their own managers missed for years, which sounds improbable to me.

In some cases where there's a huge conflict on interest between he manager and promoter, I get. Like Don King forcing Witherspoon to hire King's son as his manager. But I don't think that's really the case in these recent instances.

I highly doubt he "outslicked" Arum. I guarantee you that Chavez will be shelved until he fullfills his end of the contract agreement.

You cant get suspended for smoking weed and refuse 2 different offers (one with an extension and one without) and expect for your contract to expire on schedule.

But he literally DID outslick him. Reread my comment. Promoters have been doing this for years. The extension trick where they make you extend over and over again. I noted that he should have resigned for the extension because it made business sense.

But at the same time its funny that he refused to do anything with the word extension attached. Arum had no idea it was coming. So yea he did outslick him.
