Comments Thread For: Anthony Dirrell-Paul Smith is Eyed By Eddie Hearn

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports has opened up discussions for a potential fight between WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell (27-0-1, 22KOs) and Paul Smith (35-4, 20KOs).

This past Saturday night in Germany, Smith lost a twelve round unanimous decision to WBO champion Arthur Abraham. Hearn is pushing the WBO to order an immediate rematch, as he feels the scoring of the contest was unfair to Smith.

Dirrell may not want to fight Groves yet. This is an ok option, unless Haymon has a bum already lined up for him

Not as if Dirrell has got a lot of options. He's going to have to fight Groves soon anyway.

Anthony has all the things andre doesn't. Hes more durable, powerful, mentally stronger. And he has I would say hes half as skilled. Paul smith isnt fighting a bipolar abraham who lacks motivation whose also extremely wealthy. Anthony is a young hungry champion.

So Smith couldn't beat the corpse of Abraham and that "earned" him a title shot vs Dirrell. Nice

Groves is #1 mandatory with the WBC, so Smith & Hearn can dream on!

Dirrell doesn't seem to want to fight Groves just yet. He is entitled to a voluntary first.

I give Smith no chance against Anthony.
