Disecting Floyd's "health comes first" statements.

What is he REALLY saying here? Also, why get into such a brutal profession/sport if you're that concerned about getting hurt?

Here are some sources and quotes:

"Health is more important than anything," Mayweather said. "Because guess what? When my career is over, if I'm hurt because of something that has happened in a fight, I can't come to you and say, 'I need (money).' "

“With or without Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather is okay. Floyd Mayweather fights for Floyd Mayweather. At the end of the day, Floyd Mayweather has to be happy and comfortable…Look at the Ali situation. Fans pushed him to get into fights at the end of his career that he didn’t want to get in…If Ali could trade it all in for his health, he would.”

"This is how this world is, writers are saying, 'Floyd is scared,' " Mayweather said. "No, Floyd cares about his family. Floyd is smart. At the end of the day, Floyd is smart. My health is important. My health is more important than money. They can take all the money and my health is more important. If they say, 'Floyd, you can live a healthy life like you is right now, or you got to walk with a limp, and walk all bent over, but you can have a lot of money for the rest of your life,' I'd say, 'Take it all back.

“I just want an even playing field,” said Mayweather, when asked about the gloves. “He has so many knockouts, but those types of gloves (Everlast MX) have no padding"

The second quote, the Ali related one, is the most telling IMO. It is as clear as day, he admits to ducking and goes on to explain why.

Why? Is about the psyche of a boxer who is concerned for his health.

Would you become an airplane pilot if you're afraid of heights?

whats there to dissect. health comes first, thats why hes a defensive fighter. he might get cut, he might break his nose but thats it, he doesnt have any wars, he doesnt get knocked out. so yeah 50 mil. is a good payday for one fight if all you have to worry about is a cut or a broken finger. but hes ******ed anyway so im not sure why he cares about whether boxing might affect his health long term

It was my thread and I didn't get to read what was said. No idea why it was deleted either.

But he's also on record stating that he's willing to die in the ring. So which is it?
