    Oleg Maskaev

Is this guy for real? He wants Vitali. He thinks he can beat him based on the fact that Oleg beat Vitali in the amateurs. Before he steps up, why doesn't Maskaev try to get a rematch with McCall, Tua, Johnson, Whitaker, or Sanders?

This has nothing to do with Russia vs. Ukraine, this is for the WBC belt. Maskaev calling out Vitaliy is nothing but a marketing strategy - the bigger name you call out the more everybody is going to talk about you.
I would love to see Vitaliy vs. Golota, it's about time Vitaliy starts unifying the belts. No chance in hell Golota wins.

I think Golota has a better chance of defeating Vitali than Oleg Maskaev does. Vitali would destroy Maskaev within three rounds. One combo to Maskaev's chin would end the evening and send Maskaev to sleep. Golota at least can take a punch and give in return.

I don't know if Golota could take Vitaliy's strategy. Vitaliy would keep avoiding being hit in his usual manner and I think Golota would go nuts again.

Oleg Maskaev was a big right hand punching heavyweight contendor at one time. He was considered the 3rd best heavyweight in the world in 99 following his devastating KO's over Hasim Rahman and Derrick Jefferson. But then he ran into an undefeated Canadian named Kirk Johnson, who permanantly halted Maskaev's momentum. He is a very good right hand puncher, but he's slow and has a weak chin. I think he would get blown out by Vitali in a similar way to that of which Williams faced.

I wasn't aware that Golota had any belts.

Even though Oleg ko'd Vit in the amateurs, i'd really have to side with Vitali on this one, yeh Maskaev could get one of his big shots in and do the double but Klit is such an big clumsy awkward sod and is heavy handed himself even though his skills are very basic he'd probaly ko Maskaev in a handful of rounds, probably very similar to what he's gonna do to Rahman, obviously a punchers chance but thats about it

Golota has a very good reach so connecting with Vitali's face won't be that much of a problem.

This supposed KO of Maskaev over Vitali is more than likely an exageration.
