Comments Thread For: Crawford-Beltran To Fill Vacancy For Lineal 135 Lb. Crown

Barring a no-contest or a stalemate, a World lightweight champion will be crowned on November 29 in Omaha, Nebraska.

The forthcoming matchup between Terence Crawford and Raymundo Beltran represents the top two lightweights as seen by BoxingScene.com. With that, the winner of their HBO headliner at the CenturyLink Center will earn recognition as the World (lineal) lightweight champion. [Click Here To Read More]

What about Mickey bey... Sure he got a gift vs Vasquez, but Vasquez was clearly the number 1 guy at 135 and longest reigning..

I don't see how Crawford beating Beltran makes him lineal.. If Beltran wins, then no way is he lineal...
The winner needs to fight Mickey bey for there to be a true lineal champ IMO

Mickey Bey is garbage. And Vazquez is ****in boring! Crawford can be too most of the time but this fight deserves the lineal title to be up for grabs.

Felix "El Diamante" Verdejo is gonna climb up that latter and take all their belts.

You guys are missing my point... I don't think bey is the #1 guy, but I do think he just got a gift over the #1 or 2 guy at the weight..

Crawford has the burns win,, and nothing else (except 130 fighter gamboa)

Beltran has never won anything of note

I don't see how these 2 guys fighting proves anything in terms of lineal. Vasquez or his conquerer should be in the mix

This would be like if Floyd had retired, and last year saying the winner of the unification of broner vs Alexander is gonna be lineal,, but what about manny, or tim who robbed manny.. It's pretty much the same scenario... I don't think you can claim lineal by beating Beltran

The lineal title should be vacant until the winner beats Vasquez/bey

Verdajo is still 2 years away from being big time.. He needs to fight a schedule like cotto did from 02-06 and be groomed into that superstar by staying active and slowly increasing competition levels...
