    It's the boxers desicion... they are putting themselves in a position to be damaged... a big risk, but it pays off. Check out their pay days. For a few that is.

      alot of the people that get huge paydays are really good an dont take much damage.

          No one is forced into a boxing ring, its the risk these people take. They are unbelievable athletes.

              im not going to lie. when u take a shot to the head it makes u think of all the boxers that go 12rounds takin headshots. if alot of ppl on here actually sparred and fought they wouldnt be talkin about how some fighters r *****s

                i hate how nerd'y boxing "journalists" as they term them think they can enforce there ideals on you, jus coz they speak a higher tung

                    Lots of people think they should go back to weighing in right before the fight, which would negate the effect of gaining 10 -20 pounds in the 24 hours between weigh-in and a fight. But if you've got PPV with a half million people at $50 a pop or even just regular Showtime or HBO and one guy comes in over and they cancel the fight, everyone gets screwed, including the fans and both boxers. So a fighter signs a contract and takes his chances. I'm sure Gamache thought he could win his fight with Gatti or he wouldn't have taken it. Just sour g****s on his part. Why make an exception just for him, when every name fighter faces the same probem?
