Showtime Staff Say Mayweather Lied To Nevada State Athletic Commission

Boxing News 2014: Showtime Staff Say Mayweather Lied To Nevada State Athletic Commission ***8211; Marijuana Use Was Real & No Break In 31-Minute Fight

Unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather is just two fights away from retiring with a 49-0 record which would match the boxing record of icon Rocky Marciano. However, his professional boxing career may be placed in peril and even his plan of becoming a full-time promoter may be crashed if the Nevada State Athletic Commission would sanction Money May.

That is if claims by Showtime staff that Mayweather lied to the commission would turn out to be true. Huffington Post reports that several Showtime employees told the paper's writer that the controversial boxer did not tell the truth when he was summoned on Tuesday to shed light on two scenes shown on All Access.

These are the use of marijuana in his mansion and boxers fighting for 31 minutes without any break. Mayweather told the commission that the entire show is fake or staged for ratings sake.

"As you can imagine, it's a sensitive time right now ... People here are angry. The marijuana was real. There was no break in the 31-minute fight. Floyd flat out lied to the commission," Huffington Post quoted its source from Showtime where Mayweather has still 2 remaining fights in its 6-fight contract.

The daily pointed out that the commission did not require Mayweather to take an oath before he testified, making him not liable to charges of perjury.

But on the other hand, Huffington Post noted that the commission, which recently granted Mayweather a promoter licence for Nevada, had treated the bad boy of the ring with kid's gloves. It cited that the commission didn't suspend his licence to box even if he was convicted for physical abuse on women and spent 63 days in jail in 2012.

The daily also said that the sentencing judge delayed Mayweather's start of serving the prison sentence so he could fight in Las Vegas Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.

Because of the lack of comment from Showtime executives about the two issues, the newspaper challenged Showtime management to summon key production staff and investigate what really happened as well as review the video evidence.

It also proposed that the commission must require the boxer and the Showtime staff to testify under oath and to subpoena all relevant video files.

Besides the commission's investigation, Mayweather also faces a lawsuit for physical abuse filed by his ex-fiance Shantel Jackson.

Daily May commented that the reason why Mayweather told the commission the two scenes at the reality show are fake is because he has lost touch with reality. It published photos of Mayweather that the boxer posted on his Instagram account showing the champ in bed, listening to music while surrounded by piles of dollar bills.

Mayweather said using faked scenes helped sell more pay-per-view buys which the boxer said assured him of the $32 million guaranteed purse he earned on Sept 13 in his rematch with Marcos Maidana.

Damn, this is incredible. How much of a serial liar can Floyd be?

And now it's coming out he pulled a gun and chocked Mrs. Jackson? Damn. It's been a rough summer for Africans.

I'm very happy to hear that Showtime cares enough about their reputation to came out with the truth, regardless of who it involves. I would have preferred Floyd being honest but that's wishing for the impossible knowing his past.

I just hope the Nevada State Athletic Commission also takes a stance otherwise their integrity will be stained more by someone who doesn't care about anyone but himself.
