Beterbiev is Chechen isn't he?

He's from Dagestan, which can mean a lot of things. Avar, Russia, Chechen, a mix maybe.

But he does look Avar or Chechen (broad face, & the way he grows his facial hair).

Everyone thinks this guy Beterbiev is the "future" and talks up how great he is, but I've honestly never been impressed (I've seen all his fights).

He seems incredibly ordinary to me....He's flat footed, slow, predictable, and has mediocre defense....I youtubed his fights hoping to be impressed and I came away unimpressed.

If this is the "future" than boxing is in trouble.

Guys like Spence Jr, Felix Verdejo, and Gilberto Ramirez are the future....This guy Beterbiev seems very ordinary to me. He's way to flat footed and predictable to be anything special imo...

I'll admit he shocked me in how easily he beat Cloud but it seems like Cloud is pretty much done. But I was only his 6th fight, and regardless of how **** Cloud is, KOing him in 2 rounds is impressive.

I watched all of Beterbiev's fights hoping to be impressed and I came away very unimpressed....He seems very ordinary to me. Nothing special about him at all besides the fact that he has good power...I actually like Egor Mekhonstev much more as a fighter.

But who knows 175 is such a joke that even a flat footed ordinary fighter with poor defense could possibly do well.

Yea he doesn't look even comparable to Kovalev....Kovalev has some flaws himself, but offensively he's excellent....I like Egor Mekhonstev much more than Beterbiev aswell.

Lol no....The best fighters are still Americans or Mexicans and it will probably always be that way...Deal with it

I live in NYC (which has a large population of Russians and Blacks) and to say the average Slavic "Russian" is to strong for a Black American is bull...Your average Black American has a stronger more mesomorphic build than you average Slavic Russian at least where I live in NYC they do...Maybe this isn't true in other places, but in NYC it is true on average...

That being said, Chechens tend to be very strong. They have stronger builds on average than Slavic Russians and tend to be mesomorphic....I still don't think they can compare on average to Black Americans or Polynesians/Samoans through...

Spence literally beat the living hell out of Cruz and has a much better resume than Beterbiev....With the exception of a washed up Cloud, Beterbiev has been fighting guys with 16-25 records...and he only has 6 fights...

I didn't include Thurman because he isn't really a prospect anymore.....Where as Verdejo, Spence, and Gilberto Ramirez could still be labeled prospects...

There seems to be a correlation though.....Eastern European boxers and massive power advantages. I'm not trolling either, it just seems to be something in the training, water or whatever but these dudes all seem to be strong as oxen.

No there isn't any correlation....Their are tons of Eastern Euro guys with little/no/average power and their are tons of other fighters with great power....Hell the guy with the best 1 punch power at 175 is still Adonis Stevenson....A black Haitan. His straight left is still the best punch in that division.

And alot of Eastern Euro guys who have super impressive KO ratios simply haven't fought any noteworthy competition....It's not that hard to rack up tons of KO's fighting bums....Lets seem them actually fight someone with a pulse first before we go crazy about them...

Stopping Cloud in 2 rounds is better than beating 100 bums. Best guy on Spence's resume is Cruz, who already lost to 2 bums and shot to **** Cintron, before Errol UD him.

The only reason Cloud was even remotely considered an "elite" fighter is because 175 is so blatantly awful....But that being said he should have had 3 back to back losses before the fight against Beterbiev (Campillo, Hopkins, and Adonis) and was beyond shot.....

Cruz has never been KO'ed or down in his entire career....Spence laid one of the worst beatings on him that didn't end in a knockout I have ever seen.
