Maidana did end up getting 145K more fighting Karras on Showtime Canelo card than the 125K he was offered for the Thurman fight on HBO broner card.

He probably did (post a source/link if you can be bothered please), but that's not the point. Maidana agreed to fight Thurman and then pulled out, that's not the same as just turning down a fight. Also money wasn't the issue, Maidana's people said Thurman has too many KOs or some bull**** like that

i don't remember reading he agreed to the fight, what i read is that thurman was one of the options and contursi and maidana's team wanted a tune up fight.

Thurman has shown a stronger chin than Maidana. Maidana been dropped by someone with 3 KOs, got dropped 3 times by the bum Ortiz.
1.Maidana took Ortiz's O despite the three knockdowns.

          2. Jsk hurt Thurman.(Thurman packing glass)

          3. The punch that maidana landed on jsk and sent him flying across the ring would shatter thurmans fine china.

He couldn't have had more than Ortiz when maidana fought him, pretty sure they approached maidana with the broner fight.

Am leaning towards Thurman to beat maidana if this fight is made.

It was a duck but context has to be used as there are good reasons for the cancellation of the fight.

Thurman IMO should not have even been an option for a comeback fight after a career worst performance vs Devon. 115K (according to fan Dan) on a Broner under card vs a dangerous looking opponent with no name (this was his first Live TV fight) would have been a high risk / low reward fight.

Fighting Karras for more money in an easier fight was the sensible move, they would have been ****** to take the Thurman fight, i even posted that on here in 2012 ha. Its worked out well for Maidana and the Thurman fight can still happen, its a big fight now IMO.

                  Check this out:

Thurman specifically asked for an Alexander fight and didn't get a positive response. So I hope you stfu about that now and stop being such a boring
That doesn't answer my question. Knowing that Alexander beat Maidana, why did Thurman's team offered the fight to Maidana, the loser, and not to the winner, Alexander? It seemed idiotic to even want to fight a loser, then claim he's ducking. Any more info you could supply?

BoxingScene.com ran a story on Saturday where hard hitting Marcos Maidana’s fight with Keith Thurman, which was rumored to have fallen apart, was still being negotiated between Golden Boy Promotions and Maidana’s manager Sebastian Contursi. While Contursi and Golden Boy are indeed still in negotiations, it’s not for a possible Thurman fight for Maidana. Rather they are negotiating to find a replacement opponent for the Argentina native.

The fight was agreed and just 2 weeks away.

How do you know Thurman's team didn't offer Alexander the fight? Also it was only Thurman's 18th pro fight...

You've been going on about how Thurman doesn't want to fight Alexander for the past few weeks. What do you think of the video I just posted? Made you look like a bit of an idiot, eh?
