    Cant recall this scenario.

Figuratively pressuring him by making him make the fight. Ignore the boos, be really defensive and use your legs. Not engage to a ridiculous extent. The pressure would be on him to come forward.

Imagine if Garcia, instructed Maidana, hey they expect you to go crazy with pressure. So your only goal is to not get hit, back up and move. Wait and wait. Let Floyd make the fight, if you see an opening go into crazy punching mode, and dont stop till the next round.

    Thoughts? Would it be effective?

Someone did fight mayweather defensively. Nobody remembers, though, because the fight put every known spectator to sleep.

Floyd did just fine being the aggressor in the Mosley fight.

and yes, floyd isn't great at cutting off the ring and reaches with his head in the air

          opponent always matters though

Yeah its great advice when you are in there with someone with handspeed. Helps if you can also take their power, risky but rewarding.

I don't know about "forced" but Mayweather was the aggressor against Judah and for most of the Mosley fight.

Judah, Ortiz tried and failed miserably for as little as that lasted. Cotto tried as well, didn't do so well. Tony Pep tried but Mayweather was too much of a beast at 130 so that didn't end so well for Pep either. Maidana did it too in both fights, just not for long stretches.

Yeah it's easy when a guy keeps his hands by his side.
