Both guys took the fight to their favored opponents and beat them handily...making sure their was no doubt as to who was the better man.
I was a big Pacquiao fan before the Morales bouts, but he gained even more respect from me after his performance in the 2nd fight.
Performances like those deserve respect.
When it comes to respect, respect comes in different forms...
1) Respect within the sport - that is, amongst promotors and fighters who have a different kind of respect... they will respect the strengths of the fighter, so for example the speed of Mayweather. They will also respect their career and their titles, despite how much trash talking they do. I think there is more respect within the sport (between the fighters themselves mainly) than outside of it, but for slightly different reasons.
2) Respect from the fans - Not ducking, exciting, title holder, humble, P4P - different weight class belts, fighting the hardest out there.
So yeah, respect comes in different forms.Comment

I myself have been converted into respecting a particular fighter and vice versa. Corrales is on fighter I never really cared for but has shown to be too much of a warrior for me to deny. I will always watch a Corrales fight.
I will always respect any fighter but some have lost my support. I was really high on PBF as a lightweight but isnt really showing any willingness to meet his match at the jr. and welterweight divisions. Castillo just wasn't right in his last fight with Corrales in comming in to big. Doesnt matter though there will always be haters regardless.Comment

I think Joe is respect enough. He's gotten a lot of praise and is around 9 or 10 on most people's p4p list. I also believe the Ring will put him around there in their next issue.
Lacy was not a bum. We just found out that Joe is probably an A-level fighter, while Lacy is a B-level fighter. Neither is a bum.Comment

Hence the lack of respect Eric Esch gets because his penis is shrouded by nine hundred pounds of pork rinds.
