Honestly, I think Martinez denying his knee was a problem was a ploy to prevent himself from appearing to be a lame duck. He plans on fighting again, and to broadcast that he has serious knee problems could easily make him ineligble in the eyes of matchmakers. Look at that knockdown again. True, he got rocked with a left hook prior. The shots that dropped him weren't even clean, but more like one shot just above and behind the ear, and another cupping shot on the top back of the head. If anything, those shots threw off his equillibrium. Of course, they affected him, but he moved like a cripple for the entire fight. His own trainer said he had to stop it because his knees weren't working.
Alvarez:I want to fight Pacquiao

i know you didn't but i'm saying that fighting cotto over mosley isn't really a cherry pick considering cotto was still a very dangerous opponent and highly ranked. plus it was only pac's second fight at welterweight.
and again fighting a guy who gave you two very tough fights isn't a cherry pick. everyone thought it was because of how bad marquez looked against floyd. but only reason he looked bad is because 1) styles make fights and 2) it was his first fight at welterweight and he was poorly conditioned. but going into the 3rd fight everyone knew he hired a steroid scientist to give him the extra boost and training.
also again oscar challenged pac when pac just had 1 fight at lightweight. but of course they would jump at the opportunity to fight oscar because 1) it was a big payday 2) it was a huge opportunity and a high profile fight. if you want to blame someone for that whole situation it's oscar.
yah martinez didn't look the best against his last opponent but he took the necessary time off to heal and he admitted after the fight that the problem wasn't the knee. he was just caught with a clean left hook which started it all (same left hook that chavez jr caught him with in the 12th of their fight).
this knee excuse is just to discredit cotto's win. cotto himself is far past his prime, fighting way above his best weightclass, and only had one meh tune up win after two straight losses.
Marquez hired Memo prior to the 4th fight, not the 3rd fight. JMM came up in weight, didn't look all that great at the weight and still won the fight IMO...it was Freddie trying to give his fighter the advantage as he always tries to and it backfired.
Martinez's knee hasn't healed since the Chavez fight, it's totally gone. It was on full display in the Murray fight and again against Miguel. His movement is gone, he can't generate power because of it, he falls over just trying to duck under punches....when you aren't able to spar because you're knee isn't up to it, how are you capable of fighting a world title fight?
Sergio is classy enough to give credit to Miguel, he's not going to be the discrediting type.Comment

Alvarez is a SMW/LHW masquerading as a LMW. I agree with those who say he needs to fight somebody his own size, instead of going after little guys like Pacquiao. I will make an exception in Cotto's case though, since he has a MW belt & has won 3 LMW belts. He wanted so badly to break a record by winning a MW belt, let's see how long he keeps it.Comment

You're in denial.............
You sir are in denial. You sound like a fan of Martinez to me. If so, fine BUT don't make excuses for him. Nobody made him sign to fight Cotto. Cotto said he didn't care what version of Sergio showed up and he meant it. Did you forget how arrogant and disrespectful Sergio was to Cotto prefight? How much trash he talked to Cotto and how much he was going to "give him a beating"? Furthermore, about Manny/Roidquez: Manny won the 3rd encounter because he outthrows and outlands Marquez, 2-3 to 1 every time. The third fight was a sparring match and Manny's objective was to outpoint him. He wasn't trying to KO him in that fight. Roidquez also blew any chances of winning by running the entire 12th round!!!!!! What veteran does that? WTF was he thinking? And we all know he was/is on roids right now. In the 4th fight, it was on FULL display. He was HUGE. He took KO punches from Manny and was still around. For the first time in 4 fights, he was the stronger guy in the ring. How do you explain that? People always referring to the perfectly timed counter, but what about the first knock down where Manny had his hands up and still went down? It was the unusual power behind his shots that night. He physically moved Manny with every shot. People that can't admit things are liars. How about the Alvarado fight? He knocked him all the way across the ring and almost out of it. MA is much bigger and supposedly stronger than Roidquez. All of a sudden this man can KO a middleweight and is 41 years old??? Okay.Comment

I didn't have a problem with fighting Cotto instead. I had a problem with Freddie saying to Shane on camera that he wouldn't let Pac fight him at 147 because he was too good....then making the fight when Shane was washed up. It was classic Freddie.

Ggg wants to fight Floyd at 154, where Floyd has 10x the credentials Pac had at welter. Clear duck? Same with Martinez who'd repeatedly called out lineal paper champ at 154Comment

Pac was coming up to his 7th division when he "ducked" Mosley. Instead took on another elite opponent, with a win over Mosley.

I never accused Manny of ducking, Freddie clearly did though. It's on video, he literally tells Shane to his face that he's not getting the fight because at that stage he's too good.
Regarding Pac-JMM 3: Marquez was doing the far better work. The first two were very close, the 3rd fight was a clear Marquez win...116-112. As for the 4th fight, I belive that JMM was juiced to the max.Comment
