old mayorga gives hell to cotto,,, next fight cotto stops margs in rematch..

old semi retired mayorga did much better than champion margs with 2 common opponents in back to back fights...

Name guys that hit harder than mayorga at welter...

tito, lopez, prime oscar, prime shane, are about the only people.. thats about it.. 1990-2014, 25 years, an entire generation of fighters, only a handful of guys compare to mayorga's power...
    No I don't.

Cotto did not struggle with Mayorga in any way.

What round did Mayorga win? Before getting knocked out.

Lets not act like mosley put on some clinic like hopkins did tito..

Margs was one dimensional bully fighter, that had only one way to attack and no defense and was very predictable...Mayorga is about the same, but his strength of punching power is the great neutralizer to margs swarming tactics...
      I hope you're still trolling.

Mosley carried out a pretty specific game plan. He went to Margarito's body early - he hurts Margarito to the body in the first 30 seconds of the fight. His handspeed is also lightyears ahead of Mayorga's - he hit Margarito with shots he didn't see coming and STILL took 8/9 rounds to hurt him. And most importantly, he clinched Margarito whenever Tony started to throw to break his rhythm and didn't allow him to ever get off.

Mayorga would just brawl with Margarito. He might land a few flush shots early but Margarito would smile and keep coming. He'd be allowed to throw all night because Mayorga has no defence to it. Mayorg would get worn down. He'd lose and lose very badly.

It wasnt like shane was moving around like floyd or hopkins, doing the shoulder roll and picking his shots to counter.. Shane just let margs come to him, and he unloaded... Its suicide to walk head first repeatedly into a big puncher, especially one you cant bully..
Tony wouldnt be able to bully mayorga, would come head first the entire fight and mayorga would have a field day.. Margs has the one style to make mayorga look good...
He has the speed to get off then tied him up, wouldn't let Margarito get into Rythm.

"Just throwing punches" isn't all Shane did.

Let's not pretend that was even a 100% Margarito in there with Mosley.

Basically. Mayorga probably hangs on to hear the final bell but he would've been getting ****ed up. He sagged badly in the latter part of the Forrest rematch. He basically won rounds because Forrest was spooked.

Aside from the first Forrest fight I haven't seen anything from Mayorga that shows he was ever elite. He's known for that KO and occassionally landing a big shot against an elite fighter that sometimes didn't even win him the round. Margarito was all wrong for Mayorga, not vice versa.

True point. Margs spent most of the time between the Cotto & Mosley fights partying.

I dont have an exact scorecard but it was highly competitive...Watch it again

And mayorga took a dive in both the shane and cotto fights IMO... He battles hard and if neither can get a ko, then mayorga will do the job in the 12th and lay down and make cotto/shane look good so they can land a big money fight next... shane got margs, and cotto got margs 2,,

But thats my own conspiracy theory,,

anyways,, both the cotto and shane fights were competitive, much more competitive than when world champ margs fought them right after

                  Cotto-Mayorga was not competitive.

Watch it again.... Mayorga was a live dog in that fight until the end, and that was highly suspect....

old mayorga won more rounds than margs did vs cotto 2 in cotto's next fight, same goes for the shane fight
