Why you think Jim Lampley went on a butt hurt rant on Mayweather in the season premiere of his crap boxing show?

Also look at HBOs P4P list... GGG is at #5.

If HBO PPV numbers fail again to Showtimes when they try to compete next May, expect a restructuring of deals and jobs.

Espinoza publicly said he has been friends with Schaefer for 15 years, and that it was "different" working with De La Hoya.

Besides all that, staying with Showtime would mean Alvarez fighting Haymon opponents, most of whom are movers like the Charlos/Trout or huggers like Smith/Molina, who isn't even allowed in the US.

At HBO, they have potential fights with Cotto (2-3 fights), Kirkland, Golovkin, Chavez Jr., Pacquiao, Clottey, Brook, Martinez etc.
Or you could say the only reason he still has a functional promotional entity he could take back over at this point is because of those three men. If Oscar was in charge through those big issues he had the company would have folded and they also managed to get Oscar's company through the period when he was no longer bringing in those big checks which always the most difficult transition for a fighters promotional company.

Canelo wants to be a star, and Showtime has yet to show that they know how to build megastars or even stars.

Canelo also wants floyds ppv dates, and rightfully so, Showtime was trying to hold him back. Canelo has real ambition unlike Haymons puppet fighters. HBO is a good home for him.

Canelo's performance against Austin Trout was far from inspiring and more closely contested than the final scores indicated.

Canelo had the opportunity to beat Floyd Mayweather, the current pound-for-pound king. He took no risks and was thoroughly embarrassed.

Canelo rebounded by fighting a shot Alfredo Angulo. He didn't make weight.

Canelo next fought Erislandy Lara at a catchweight. His performance was far from stellar and many believed Lara deserved the victory.

If Canelo can't start performing like the dominant, elite fighter he's supposed to be, no network will be able to turn him into the megastar he wants to be.

You're not giving Canelo credit for always going after the best available. Angulo is really the only exception to that over his last 4 fights and in his early 20's no less. He got schooled by Floyd but there's no shame in that. He beat Trout and Lara even though they were close fights and Lara fought like a complete bitch. You think Schaefer wanted him to fight Trout?? He's one of the few stars that forces his promoter to make the fights fans want to see. That is very refreshing in this day & age. HBO and Hershman are going about their business the right and making fights that are fan friendly. The people arguing that are Floyd & Haymon loyalists who are blinded by their love of their hero. They can go support whatever entity Haymon forms once he finds someone willing to pay exorbitant license fees for crap fights.

How can he be left with nothing. If he has Canelo. You do realize in another 2-3 years Canelo will be the #1 PPV draw.
