  • Comments Thread For: Hennessy: Tyson Fury Should Be Allowed To Be Himself

The loud-mouth world of boxing just got a little quieter with British heavyweight Tyson Fury taping his lips shut and refusing to speak to the media for eight weeks.

Fury fronted a press conference in London on Monday (NZT Tuesday) to promote his looming "Battle of Britain" clash with Dereck Chisora. But he didn't utter a word. Instead he had tape over his mouth with "BBB of C" written on it followed by question marks.

It was a protest reaction to being fined more than $30,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for an expletive-filled tirade at Chisora earlier this year that also included him demolishing the top table.

Tyson is entertainment, it is a shame if he decides to keep silent. He should just tone it down a bit.

I think he should turn it up a notch, give up his license and get one from Luxembourg. Problem solved, and the c'unts from BBBofC will be left with egg on their faces.

Flipping tables like a spoilt child is cringeworthy, smacks of attention seeking which is exactly what his diatribe is nothing more nothing less,it isn't even witty that is the worst part.

The guy won't go far with his career whilst the champion is still active,I neither see him beating world class competitors like Povetkin,Pulev and Arreola.his career won't amount to much when it is said and done.

If he can't beat the a limited in shape Chisora we will know he has reached his ceiling.

          .
Of course it's attention seeking! He's trying to publicise the fight and get people interested in watching it.
Why else do you think they have press conferences at regular intervals before big fights, with trash talk and threats and staredowns between the fighters?
It's all done to get the attention of Joe Public.

Their are ways of gaining publicity without making yourself out to look a fool,ie eye catching performances ok I know Fury lacks any eyecatching skills and he has to publicise himself some way, especially after Hearn hinted at his previously arranged card was to be a huge flop (likely the reason theybpulled the plug)

Joe Public haven't a clue who Fury is so I can understand why you believe he has to humiliate himself as a form of marketing, personally I believe he should go about nailing down a title with convincing victories over mandated tootle eliminators, something he has appeared reluctant to be involved in on several occasions.

Tyson Fury is bigger than the sport of boxing, and when Floyd and Pacquiao retire he will reign supreme as the cash cow.

I have nothing but admiration and respect for Klitschko,I hold none of that for Fury.their is nothing in his character, boxing skills, prospects, achievements to date I can relate to.the guy is an embarrassment to the sport.

Fury in response to the journalist has to be his low point, the depths this person will ********** himself for money knows no bounds.if he wasnt boxing he would be stealing power tools from tradesman's vehicles,I am convinced of it,nobody can tell me he has had any form of education, hardly surprising from a family and father like his.
