    Example when Clinching is Unacceptable.

Now this thread was inspired by the thread talking about when should Clinching be acceptable. Link Below*

Fights where Clinching was excessive and unacceptable.

Mayweather vs Maidana 2 - Mayweather clinching every chance he got
Alexander vs Maidana - Alexander only plan against Maidana was to clinch
Rios vs Chaves - Chaves only plan was to clinch Rios
Abril vs Rios - Abril did not have a game plan except to clinch Rios.

What i find funny is that the guy who calls himself "TBE" had to clinch his a$$ to dicision, and ran in the final championship round, the fool couldn't even box, he had to do some mma ***** to survive.

I agree with Floyd Chino 2 for sure. Even Alexander vs Chino but I think Maidana didn't train for that fight. Or something idk, he looked bad that night. Rios Chaves had a lot of clinching but Rios was coming in with his head a lot and that's how he would get in. He can't from outside and he rams in with his dome too much. So I think it's a lil different. Idk, just my opinion. Last Saturday Maidana was coming in cleanly vs Floyd and being held constantly. It was pathetic.

it's unacceptable when it's straight up holding. khan vs collazo, alexander vs maidana. straight up holding is never acceptable, excessive or not.

When it's used as a tactic instead of when a guy is truly hurt...

Ref has to enforce it, but ideally we wouldn't see fights like wlad-Sasha or John Ruiz anymore

i think in fights like rios vs chaves or brook vs porter it's hard to avoid when you have a guy bombing in head first. i didnt feel like there was anything excessive in those fights where a point could be deducted. it was more of a style thing than a strategy to win the fight.

no one has mentioned wlad? wlad vs povetkin was the worst thing since wlad's previous fight.

Back in the day fighters will shove or push a fighters arms down and counter when someone goes for a clinch.

Look at how much the skill of boxing has dwindled since.. Mayweather uses his elbow to create space for a reason. Educate yourselves.

if a guys coming in head first why not hit him in the head? i don't buy that excuse for a second. brook was holding from the first round so it was obviously his strategy, tie up the lil midget because obviously porter can't do anything from distance. joke fight.
