I am also for exciting fights and all but if strengths and styles of fighters are being compromised, abolishing it or even limitting it does exactly that...swarmers will absolutely wont be given a level playing field without clinching..i mean how many fights can we example in which if clinching was not allowed, wouldve changed how it went or even the outcome, molina kirkland, mares vs moreno, ward vs bika, floyd vs maidana 2, mathysse vs garcia...might aswell get rid of wide ring to minimize boxers from running and potshotting too...(really think they should make it standard tho for each group of divisions)Comment

I'm self employed as well and run multiple businesses, that doesn't mean I can't box or find time to do it... Boxing isn't just for broke dummiesComment

Sometimes clinching is inevitable. And so it shouldn't be punished.
You have a pure boxer vs a brawler/swarmer, often clinching will occur because it's not always the two styles will gel.
The same often applies to a short guy vs tall guy fight, where the short guy will try and duck in low whereas the tall guy gets rushed and hence clinches/holds. It's also OK in this situation.
The one thing I can't stand about P4P Clinchers like Ward/Klitschko is that these guys will reach out for a clinch, and so they'll do it as a form of attack and not defence. It's first of all illegal and second of all extremely unattractive to watch.
Bad becomes worse when someone like Klitschko will then lean his 30 pounds heavier body on his opponents back.Comment

The other problem is running. People say a fighter dealing with a runner should cut off the ring, but it's not that easy. The retreating fighter merely has to wait for his opponent to step within range and then fire his shots. His opponent has to cut off the ring (while monitoring his opponent lest he springs forward with an attack), step into range, and then get his shots off. The first route is clearly easier than the second. A taller fighter might find success in refusing to follow his opponent, thereby drawing him out; but a shorter fighter has no option but to get close: he can't reach his opponent from the outside. I'm not saying running should be penalised, but it should be taken into account when scoring.Comment
