Has Paddy Fitzpatrick Ruined Groves ?

We all know the first Groves vs Froch fight, Paddy hadnt been with Groves for long, so it was basically Booth's version of Groves fighting

Come the second fight Groves did not look as sharp, now his weekend performance, he looked in poor shape.

It seems with Paddy he is declining

Was Groves biggest mistake parting ways with Booth?

I would say so. booth may come across as a d!ck sometimes but he is a very good trainer. It was a big mistake for groves to leave him. Booth is also very good at getting good sparring partners for his fighters too.

But even physically groves looks worse than he did since leaving booth. And the froch loss would have taken a lot out of him.

It seems Paddy is turning Groves into a irish slugger/brawler

Groves movement and reflexes have disappeared, he went from being a mini version of David Haye to a bigger version of Rios

Wouldn't say ruined...but it clearly seems he was better off with Booth and that partnership was leading to a much more explosive and effective Groves. There's a clear dip in performance level and explosiveness from Froch 1 to Rebrasse. Definitely those Mini Haye comparisons are looking less and less at the moment.

Good thread TS. And you're 100% right.

In the first Groves vs Froch fight, Groves was strong, coordinated, fast and powerful.

In the second fight he was slow, weak, sluggish and looked a shell of himself.

In his fight yesterday he looked terrible.

Booth is good at getting his fighters in shape.

Also the first fight flattered Groves a bit.

Froch was weakened for the rest of that fight because of the first KD plus the commentators were kissing Groves' arse all the way through so they exaggerated his dominance.

I think Carl Froch ruined George Groves when he laid him out in front of 80,000 people after all that **** he pulled in the build-up. Humbling experience.

Froch ruined him if anyone. His stamina/conditioning has never been great its a large reason I picked Froch in both fights, 7-8 round fighters don't beat guys like Froch.

I like his trainer Paddy more than I do Groves he seems a knowledgeable guy, bit eccentric but a good guy.

Groves has a bit of a sloppy performance, but manages to win 9 or 10 rounds, then he's ruined

                  Seriously, boxing fans...

                  Idiotic to say the least.

                    Surely that can't be it.

I can't speak for his training techniques, but Fitzpatrick's advice in the corner was spot-on.
