Is a "face" really all that's needed to draw interest in promotional companies?

A quick google search of both names tells me otherwise.

Floyd is not only the highest paid athlete in the world, but one of the top grossing celebrity entertainers in the world among the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Ellen Degenerous and so on.

I think it's safe to say that Mayweather Promotions is Al Haymon's new front. And it won't be long before the two are one (Haymon fighters on Mayweather Promotions cards). But what people are really overlooking is that Mayweather Promotions has been able to secure TV dates and licenses across the country. Do their fighters suck? Yes. So did Oscar De La Hoya's at the outset. But when you have the capital, the TV dates and are in it for the long haul, things eventually break your way.

You're using 'google search' as your argument?

i think op has a point that the mayweather promotions stable will eventually have tons of boxers. but thats it. more boxers doesnt necessarily mean they will have great fights put on, develop the next super star, ppv explosions, etc. only time will tell if these guys will flop or flourish. if these last few years have been any indication, haymon/mayweather fighters might be pretty damn good but they are business first. business first fights arent exactly the ideal fight fans want to see.

but you can also look at it in a good way: if this promotion is lookin to start up for real, maybe they will show up with a BIG ****. a whole year of ppv-caliber for the main event and the undercards. surely with that, mayweather promotions will be the talk of the town for a long time.

side note: mayweather has been very successful for sure. but that dont mean he can do the same for his fighters. with someone like floyd who gets his way all the time, has a big ego, a bit petty and vindictive, business minded, ruthless, etc. surely, if boxer a was like nah im not fighting this boxer b for this chump change, or insert other excuse here, theres a possibility you **** with mayweather's plans and his money and therefore have to put on the ignore list and blacklisted from boxing.
