  • Comments Thread For: George Groves Smiles: Anthony Dirrell is Just Worried!

GEORGE GROVES is eyeing an quick-fire return the big time after disposing of Christopher Rebrasse tomorrow.

And he has already been caught up in a war of words with his potential next opponent.

Victory over European super-middleweight holder Rebrasse at Wembley Arena will clinch a tilt at WBC world champion Anthony Dirrell - but the sparks have already started between the pair.

Only euro fighter that makes himself looks ******. Talked all that crap to Froch, he went to sleep. Dirrell brings up valid points in reguards to Groves havent done anything to prove that he belongs in the elite class.

Sure sounds worried. That or he's the typically deluded Haymon fighter thinking he is more than reality says he is.

And what has Dirrell done to prove he belongs at the elite level?

I'm not sure that he is "elite" class but: Beating Bika > A close fight (with early stoppage) and a KO loss to Froch. If Dirrell would just amost beat Bika second time or he would got knock out then Groves would be ahead of him, but since Dirrel beat Bika, Groves isn't ahead of him. Simple as that.

Ok, but no one is saying Groves is ahead of him, they are around the same level. Dirrell is acting like he's a big shot when all he has done is stink the place out with Bika. Hardly elite.

Groves puts a hurting on Dirrell, the latter is a bum.

I don't think anyone is saying Groves is above Dirrell, but I would say they're similarly ranked. Taking Micky Mouse titles out of it, they're both mid top10 contenders.

Groves isn't ranked solely on losing competitively to Froch, he has also beaten DeGale (Olympic gold medalist and Froch's mandatory), Glen Johnson and even Paul Smith has an alphabet title shot lined up.

I'd still fancy him to beat anyone not named Froch or Ward. Assuming of course he bounces back the same fighter.

I'm no Groves fan, but i'd definitely pick him to beat Dirrell.
