Comments Thread For: Promoter Oswaldo Rivero Reportedly Beaten, Robbed

Argentine boxing promoter and manager Oswaldo Rivero was reportedly beaten and robbed in a highway assault, according to breaking news from Cadena 3 News in Argentina.

The longtime manager was with two travel companions en route to Santa Fe for the pre-fight weigh-in leading up to Friday’s super flyweight title fight rematch between incumbent champ Omar Narváez and Mexico’s Felipe Orucuta. Driving along National Route A012, Rivero claims to have been stopped by a police roadblock.

That's horrible news. Sad to see the position he is currently under. He is being a man about the situation and assuring the fighters will get paid, sad to hear it has to reach his bank account in order for the fight itself to continue. Hope he can overcome this and the police force figures out what really happened.

Rooting for Orocuta but seeing how hard it is for a visitor to win in Argentina and how badly the fans tend to behave if the upset is pulled off, I'm a bit concerned for Felipe's well being.

Regarding the situation at hand though, it almost seems like a set up. The thieves whom seemed to have posed as officials and set up a false roadblock had to be well informed who this man was and the valuables he possessed in his car. They had to be tipped about the time, route and date as well. It doesn't sit well once you begin to think things over...

Bull****, what they don't have banks that can transfer money down there?

So he pays all the fighters in cash right?

            Yeah right, lol

Who carries cash like that without any protection especially in a porsche? Inside job indeed and I doubt any justice will come of this.
