HBO still upset they lost Floyd so now all they do is trash him.

They went extra hard on him on that show, I saw it last night. It was disgusting how jealous they are of Showtime.

The dumb ass network talked more about Showtime fighters/fights than they did HBO stuff. Dying network.

Seriously. If anybody thinks that HBO "lost out" on Floyd, he or she is a mother**king ******. HBO clearly has significantly more of a budget than Showtime does. If HBO really, REALLY wanted Floyd, they would have had him. Do people really believe that Showtime made an offer, and HBO was like, "awww gosh, we don't have the money to match...guess we lose". Please.

It's simple. HBO saw the Showtime offer's risk outweighing the reward. A 35 year old boxer (at the time) who would be approaching 40 by the end of the contract? HBO's already an established powerhouse in the sport. They didn't need Floyd. They still regularly beat Showtime in the ratings for the fights -- simply because they are in more households. Way more households. Sometimes less is more. Juts like in this case for HBO. It's like when an NBA or MLB team lets one of their stars walk via free agency. Yeah you could break the bank for a guy who's at the end of his career -- or you can save f**k tons of cash and go younger.

Now with that said, Showtime still made a good decision by inking the Floyd deal. Even if they ultimately lose money. Why? Because it put them back on the map as a serious player in the sport. It was a good move by Showtime. But don't get it twisted. HBO didn't "lose" Floyd. They just made a business decision and opted not to match or exceed Showtime's offer.
