Comments Thread For: Donaire Continues Tough Camp Grind For Walters Clash

World Boxing Association featherweight super champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire sparred ten rounds yesterday as he continued tough grind in preparation for his battle with Jamaica’s hard-hitting Nicholas Walters, the WBA regular champion at the StubHub Center in Carson, California on October 18 on the Gennady Golovkin-Marco Antonio Rubio title fight card.

Nonito’s father/trainer Nonito “Dodong” Donaire Sr told BoxingScene/Manila Standard/Viva Sports that Nonito sparred with featherweight Guy Robb who has a record of 14-1 with 6 knockouts and tough Luis Sandoval and “looked very good” in his third sparring session since he began training a couple of weeks and has sparred eight rounds on each occasion at the Donaire Boxing and Fitness Gym in Oakland, California.

Every time Nonito is about to fight there's a flood of articles over how amazing he looks. How he is training at zero gravity with 200 kilos strapped to his back and can finally turn super saiyan 3... Then when fight night rolls around and he looks like crap he claims his camp was horrible, his stomach ached and his dog barked too loud at night so he wasn't able to get enough rest.

Aside from his bag of excuses I love seeing him fight when he is focused and poised. Sadly we haven't seen that Nonito in several fights now. Against Walters he will need to turn back the hands of time and bring back that Nonito, if it still exists. Great fight, nice to see Nonito constantly stepping up and taking on major challenges.

WAR FLASH!!!! Let's go Nonito, time to claim the throne again. You are going to have to catch some bodies for real, go back to the hungry Nonito. Not to the unmotivated already-accomplished-everything-so-what-the-hell Nonito that fought Rigo.

This is a great match up even if Shimpwe was denied his rematch.

That really is balls how Vet lost his title due to a cut and was denied a future television spot.

I hope we get a unified (eventually Undisputed) Featherweight champion soon.
