  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Relishing Klitschko Camp, Wants More

Anthony Joshua is convinced he has what it takes to reach the top after spending ten days sparring with heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko.

The Olympic gold medallist recently travelled to Austria to help the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO champion prepare for his title defence against Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev.

The undefeated 24-year-old has been tipped by many as a future world champion and said his experience in the ring with Klitschko has given him confidence he can eventually get there.

“Yes, I felt that way,” he told Sky Sports News HQ when asked if he could compete at Klitschko’s level. “Time will tell. It is a tough old sport, especially at heavyweight. I did feel comfortable.

Great to hear a heavy paying Vladimir the respect and true recognition he deserves. Too many idiots talk smack about a man they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with.

Respect to Joshua, a good guy, clearly.

Yeah, some of Klitschkos former sparring partners have used it as a self-promotion opportunity and talked **** about him when he was clearly out of their league. Joshua is being very honest about not being at that level yet and maybe they will take him further than the others.

        A wise move.

Serves as a reminder to the rest of the community how good this king of the ring actually is and also underscores the class of the guy to have actually invited these young super prospects into his camp for their development as much as his own preparation.

        All the best to Joshua!

Wlad always gets in the young prospects to see what he might have to deal with if they challenge him later on, sparring fighters who are so green won't be the best preparation for a fight against a guy like Pulev

I heard Joshua is the man who put Wladimir out of commission and in hosptial causing the Pulev fight to be postponed.. If he can mess Wlad up that bad in only 5 rounds of sparring how could Wlad possibly survive over 12 rounds against Joshua?

Huh? Wlad is out with a bicep injury. Nobody hospitalized him.

As far as how Joshua would do against Wlad for the full 12 rounds, try reading the article...

Josh should take a few fights in mainland Europe & then go for the English title. He needs as much overseas exposure as possible at this stage in his career.

It was a running joke that started on Chêckhookboxing, but that's all it is. A joke.
