I like Floyd and will be rooting for him Saturday, but let's face it, he's no saint, and he brought a lot of the criticism on himself.
No. The fact that you and others focus so hard on all of the negativity shows something about you that is not genuine and not truly in support of the sport of boxing.

Floyd won't be recognized for his accomplishments until he's out of the sport. No one expects a guy (or a team) to be on top this long. Some of us can remember "Jordan Rules," and Jordan's image right before he retired then unretired (accusations of ********). People love to see a guy fall off, just like Ali, Tyson, Magic, Jordan, and Tiger. I just want to see him leave on his time, and not go out like Joe Louis. There's a lot of haters out there, but they are ignorant. For those who have real love for boxing, read the following:

"Requiem for a Welterweight" by Brin-Jonathan Butler

Keep missing the point on purpose if that's the only way to make yourself feel good about spreading frivolous hate. The point is that the media members are constantly trying to find a flaw. Everyone has them but people don't always focus on flaws. Dan Rafael for instance. He gets a kick out of trying to downplay the positive things about Mayweather and overstate the negatives. He always comes out trying to say that Mayweather's fights sold less than reported. He said that Maidana was paid 1.5 million dollars for the gloves controversy from the first fight. But when Maidana and his camp said that it wasn't true he wrote another angry article accusing Maidana of lying and repeated the false claims over and over again. They say that Mayweather called Pacquiao a little yellow punk when in reality he said little young punk. The racial comment about having Pacquiao make him sushi rolls was bad enough. Why does the media need to try to make it worse than it is? He maintains that he did not physically assault the mother of his children but the media would just as soon say that he doesn't believe "what he did" was wrong. He says that the nfl and the Ravens should have stood firm on the original punishment that they handed down to Ray Rice when they already knew what he had done instead of increasing the punishment based on the video being seen by the public. So Keith Olbermann gets on television and claims that Mayweather is a supporter of domestic violence against "defenseless women" and tries to get people to boycott his upcoming fight. All of this is happening on fight week and so called boxing fans can't see why all of this hatred is bad for the sport. Please get your heads out of the sand. Trying to make someone out to be worse than they actually are helps to give the real evil, exploitation and oppression in this world a free pass while everyone is looking the other way.

RJJ from 1988-2004 accomplished what FMJ has and then some. Except he was actually knocking folks out.
