British fight crowds: best in boxing

There's no doubt about it when you go overseas to fight in Britain it's like fighting two guys in the ring at once. I'd swear on my life the British fighters feed off the energy of those crowds. The crowds are also biased, which is good for hometown guys; for example, they don't acknowledge punches landed by the foreign opponent, which is the right thing to do. Not let you fighter get worried. Remember when Mitchell dropped Calzaghe and it was DEAD SILENCE? That's the perfect way to handle your boy going down instead of freaking out and making him a nervous wreck. They didn't acknowledge ANY of the 5 punches Lacy landed that fight, which was great. Big ups to the amazing crowds of Britain. Wish we had that kind of attitude here in the States.

yeh but we can get carried away in britain, like every body cheering when GMAN was on a stretcher, that was sick,

When GMAN collapsed in the corner , fans were shouting "die you bastard, die!"

plus the national anthems of other counties & brits always boo,

We have mostly scum fans to be honest !

Enough already this is a sly attempt on your behalf to take credit away from Calzaghe's win and make and excuse for Lacy getting beaten. Get over it boy

I still recall Hagler getting pelted by beer bottles and chairs.

No, they are not the best crowd in the world.

I agree, it all came from the "soccer" crowds that we get over here. Trust me, if you think that is an atmosphere, you wanna check out some of the football matches that go on over here, they are like triple that... Football is virtually a religion in this country, but people have begun acting the way they do in a football stadium -- in a boxing arena too... Oh and cricket! Of all sports, you even get an atmosphere at Cricket matches now... its so great to experience...

No way am I taking credit away from Calzaghe. I think he would beat any super middleweight on that day

Bottles and chairs hurt more than pink lemonade that doused Golota. Also, I think that was his own fans throwing stuff at him for walking out of the fight.

If you're going to compare hooligans to American fans, you're not going to win this argument.

Pink lemonade? You forgot the bottles/cans/cups that were being thrown aswell...

Oh or how about that one in America where the fighter was knocked out of the ring and then as somebody at ringside was rushing to help him up he had a wooden chair chucked at him?

There are hooligans everywhere, now get off the moral high ground you ****ing spaz.

Fuego is right, the crowd is great overseas...I love watching big fights across the pnd on TV, it beats watching a big fight in the US with half the seats empty.
