Why is Al Haymon so powerful? He is just an advisor

This is something that intrigues me. Why is he so powerful if he is just an advisor?
I mean an advisor is just that an advisor, he gives you advises. So how in the hell he holds power over fighters. How as an advisor he sign fighters. Is suppose to be fighters signing an advisor not the other way around.

He's a smart man and finds ways to make things happen even though he is just an "advisor".

because he has expertly navigated he gray areas of the rules delineating adviser, manager and promoter and is aligned with Floyd who makes everyone a lot of money when he fights.

Haymon is an "Advisor" the same way that Tony Soprano was in "Waste Management".

Haymon has connections and people pay for other people connections all the time. Usually it is through a manager, or an agent, or a lawyer maybe but it can also come from an adviser which is kind of a catch all role in any form of business.

Plus as it sits now with his place with the biggest star in the sport people will take Haymon's phone calls (remember it was not until Floyd walked and there was no chance for years of getting him back that HBO flipped out on Haymon, none of the other stuff counted for much while Floyd was around).

He is just an adviser in the same way Gus Fring is just the owner or Los Pollos Hermanos.
