Comments Thread For: Garcia: Maidana is Stronger - Mentally and Physically!

Robert Garcia, trainer of Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs), says his fighter is much better prepared for the upcoming rematch with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This past May, Maidana gave Mayweather a lot of trouble in the ring but ultimately lost a twelve round majority decision. Garcia says the training was only a couple of weeks, which wasn't enough time for the Argentine slugger to prepare. As a results, he got very tired in the second half of the fight.

They coming to fight with nothing to lose , reminds of Cotto when he was fighting Floyd with a new trainer that got him into great shape .

This will be a good fight just ordered the PPV and Im looking forward to it .

Knowing from day one that he won't be wearing his puncher's gloves and remembering how close he came to winning on points first time around, Chino is going to focused more on punch volume than sheer power.
A lot depends on the referee. First time around, Tony Weeks wasn't calling break when they got up close and he let Maidana get away with hitting Floyd around the back and side of the head with his chopping, overhand punches.
If Bayliss handles it the way Cortez handled Floyd/Hatton then Chino has no chance. He needs to be close up to be effective. And the way Floyd ducks and rolls when he's under pressure, some of Chino's punches are going to be going round the side and back of his head again, that's for sure.
If Bayliss calls "break" every time Chino pushes Floyd to the ropes, and starts warning him about illegal blows, this could end up being a very controversial fight.

I just saw the last Total Access last night. Marcos looks great. But then they said he was 155 with a week away. That's a little over a pound a day. I guess that's not a big deal for him, but I can't understand how you bring more stamina, and you couldn't be closer to 147 with a week out? I seen stories saying he was close to 180 before Mayweather officially picked him for the rematch. It's not as bad as Duran being 200 before his rematch with Leonard, but "DAMN!"

Oh, come one, Rob. And all this time everyone swears Maidana lost because of the gloves?

              Say it isn't so.

              .

When preparing for war in the pit, you don't concern yourself with the other side, there are rules to follow, but what you concern yourself with is your fighter.

Jr is the same, been the same in the last several fights, doesn't change and can't change, he has baited yall and fed yall the **** and yall ate it up

Maidana has proven he can and has changed.

He looked a bit out of shape for the Broner fight , looked much better last Jr fight but now he is looking to be pulled just right for ALL NIGHT if it need be.

Jr plays like he is game and loves to mock others making himself feel better about his insecurities

However , Maidana on the other hand is GAME TO THE BONE, from Birth and he is coming to destroy.

Maidana comes to fight , Jr comes to pot shot, so if Maidana can stay on top of JR then we will hear: AND,, ,,,,,, N E W !!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are coming without fear, without being mesmerized and all that silly ****, but I am baffled by your statement that Cotto was put in great shape ?

He looked like a stocky school boy and fought like one

                  however

ROACH put him back together that blew my mind, Roach's Cotto will KO poor Jr.

Funny thing is, maidana gave mayweather a run for his money. Pacquiao is easily 1000 times better than maidana
