MGM has to look for the future and that is canelo... and if they dont Thomas and Mack will be more than happy...
Canelo is Oscar's "future" -- his only future at this moment...
Haymon or Floyd may have different visions about the same "future"... Pretty much visions of their own...

As I said here before: the months to come will be quite funny to closely watch with this respect...

So you assume that Canelo "grabs" the Cotto fight for Cinco de Mayo while Floyd ruins his retiring fights -- unless he accepts the Pacquiao fight the same day... Right?

oscar already has the MGM booked , unless floyd fights pac which i believe is closer than ever, if not canelo-cotto takes 5 de mayo.. floyd can use another date if he doesnt fight pacman and it wont be the end of the world... i believe canelo-cotto is already setup and unless floyd-pac comes to the table nothing is going to stop canelo-cotto..

may v paq does not require cinco de mayo to be a super hit. That can happen on any single day. Cotto v canelo will be much bigger on cinco de mayo than any other day. I expect if those two fights happen near each other, the powers that be will understand that and set those fight accordingly.

All seem to look good as you put it...

But Floyd isn't ready to lose control over the boxing. Floyd would want to become Middleweight lineal champion (the biggest and unexpected career prize for him at this stage) and he doesn't want to fight his nemesis Manny -- who can't provide any higher reward right now... Do you agree?

i agree and makes sense, but seems like cotto-canelo is already setup for 5 de mayo, there is a reason why they are looking for tuneups instead of fighting each other now...

And what are the tuneups have to do with what will really happen on Cinco de Mayo? (Both would need a tuneup for that fight -- whatever it will be.)
I think that you actually want to convince yourself rather than me...

Floyd has his promotional license right?

he could fight on another date or another arena.
