But we shall see what promotional camp will eventually prevail...

Cotto vs Canelo WILL happen Cinco de Mayo weekend 2015.

It was written boxing gods will prevail.

Mayweather used his unwarranted power in boxing to get both the WBA and the WBC to recognize his fight with Maidana as a defense of both his 147 and his 154 pound titles. This is of course impossible. How can the 154 pound titles possibly be at stake when the top weight either fighter can weigh in at is 147. It's a welterweight title fight only and has nothing to do with the 154 pound weight class. How ****** are boxing fans supposed to be to buy into this BS? If Cotto has fought and defeated GGG I have no problem with him putting his middleweight title on the line against Mayweather in May 2015. If Cotto has not defeated GGG then the winner of a Cotto-Mayweather fight is technically the lineal middleweight champion of the world. In no way would the Cotto-Mayweather winner be the world's best middleweight. The best middleweight in the world is clearly GGG and that's why lineal champ Martinez ducked him and Cotto might also duck him. I consider GGG the real middleweight champion until he loses a fight. Going by their last two fights I think Cotto would beat Mayweather in a rematch at 154 or 160. It would be a good fight but an unfair fight to GGG.

If you weigh 147, then you are under 154 and can fight for the JMW title. Right?

I'd rather watch Canelo vs Cotto. It's new, exciting, and guranteed fireworks.

Floyd wants to fight in NY, and the Barclays owner said he's interested. Puerto Ricans in NY for a Cotto vs Mayweather II For the Middleweight Championship of the World. talk about a tough ticket. Mayweather was Cotto's highest Pay day. Im sure 15mil is nothing to pay him. They will break his Canelo PPV record. And I'm sure with Roach in Cotto's corner and he fighting like he now is this will BE HUGE!

...It's not about what fight one would "rather watch", it's about what fight "rather happens"...

I did forget about that Barclays deal, they nearly had the Maidana fight. They won't be outbid on a May/Cotto PPV in May or June, who cares. I don't think it would break 2 million buys but it's probably his biggest payday aside from Manny.

I found a link which mentioned fighthype.com as source that Floyd isn't going to defend those belts... I've checked the news but there are no other references on this issue...
Yes both his 154 pound belts are on the line so this fight counts as a defense of his 147 and his 154 pound titles. It's BS but Mayweather asked the WBC and the WBA to do this for him and they agreed because he is Mayweather and he is so special. If Maidana wins he is the new WBA and WBC Jr. middleweight champion in addition to winning the welterweight titles. It's Floyd's way of not being stripped of his 154 pound belts for not defending them and yet not fighting 154 pound contenders.

it has nothing to do with floyd fighting for the 154 title, the problem is maidana fighting for that... they can weight 140 if they want still doesnt make maidana a legit challenger for the 154 title...
