Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: Lucas Matthysse Will Hurt Adrien Broner

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Trainer Robert Garcia is very familiar with the positives and the negatives of former three division world champion Adrien Broner (29-1, 22KOs). Last December at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Garcia was the guiding force behind Marcos Maidana's stunning victory over Broner.

Since suffering his first career defeat, Broner moved seven pounds south to junior welterweight and bounced back with two victories. Broner is now calling for a fight with Maidana's countryman, Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34KOs).

Broner simply can't adjust as soon as something lands he starts to retreat real quick on the back foot.

That's a good fight. I don't think Mattysse has as good of a beard as most think. Could be very entertaining but I like Broner to get stopped of it happens.

Matthysse has a better 'beard' than Maidana...so don't try and act like that will be a factor against Adrien 'beat up midgets to look impressive' Broner

Do you consider 5 ft 10 a midget?

            1) What exactly do you base that speculation on? (bolded)

            2) I definitely think Maidana and Lucas have good chins, but I think Marcos' is better, personally. I can elaborate on that if you like.

            3) I clearly said in my post that I think the fight would be interesting but thought that Lucas would stop Broner.

Get yo head out yo a$$.

Matthysse has never been hurt more then a flash KD, and those were from a known HUGE puncher (one to the back of the head). I dont rate the Garcia KD, as it had more to do with Matthysse trying to get out of the ropes then anything Garcia landed.

I simply can't see how people question his chin. He's never been hurt for more then a second.

I'll be seriously pissed if Lucas lost to Adrien Broner. Thing is, while I don't think it would happen, I can't possibly trust my own judgment after how wrong I was about the Garcia fight.

I'm pretty sure Garcia is clearly better than Broner and Broner wouldn't win. I don't know, though.

Matthysse was winning the fight before his eye closed. Ya his eye closed, part of boxing, blah blah.

If his eye doesnt close though. He wins comfortably.Garcia is tougher then most people thought so I doubt Matthysse stops him.

Not sure why your so down on your judgement. The fight was still close.

Broner v Lucas is the classic example of how NSB bases a fight not off what they've seen from each fighter, but how they feel about each fighter.

Broner isn't as good as HE thinks he is. Lucas isn't as good as NSB wants him to be.

Look forward to this fight if it happens because both guys are getting a 2nd chance to make the leap to the next level.
