Comments Thread For: Adonis Stevenson Gets Deadline For Voluntary Bout

According to sources in Mexico, the World Boxing Council has given WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20KOs) until the close of business on September 19th to finalize the details of his voluntary title defense.

If Stevenson fails to meet that deadline, the sanctioning body will order his promoter to begin negotiations for a mandatory fight with countryman Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs). At that point, if a deal is not reached with Pascal within 30 days, then the WBC will order a purse bid.

Stevenson probably wants Pascal to go to purse bit that way Pascal can't cry about his split. But at the same time I can't see Pascal taking this fight on the cheap nor should he.

There's another potential purse bid Roc Nation could snag just to **** with Al Haymon. In fact, they should keep doing that every single time a Haymon fighter has a purse bid.

Then Haymon pulls his fighter and Roc Nation loses money.

              LOL, not willingly like Quillin.

Also.. this is funny because there's no unification to get out. But it's a voluntary bout... so not like he'll have a problem setting one up.... unless Showtime doesn't buy the opponent.

                  Why would they lose money?

Roc Nation won't lose any money. The entire bid is for the fighters purses, and you don't get paid if you don't fight.
