Floyd has never said the fight was close. His reasoning, whether it's the truth or a lie, is because the fans wanted it. Not because he thought it was a close fight.

The fight was competitive in terms of Maidana keeping the pressure on, never allowing Floyd to get comfortable, and making him work hard to win rounds. But IMO, the scoring wasn't close at all. 8-4/9-3 is a pretty consistant score when I watch.
