In order for criminal charges to proceed there has to be some kind of evidence. As of now there isn't any. Just her word, for whatever that's worth.

There are parts of the world where men are allowed to discipline their wives. And from the viewpoint of the traditional wife. Their women are head-n-shoulders superior to ours domestically. I've also encountered women here that flat out don't respect a man that won't hit her. So every situation is different. Can't generalize it by calling everyone that has hit a woman a coward. I've hit a woman once in my life. And that's when I was about 18-19. And she was so outta control that my then roommate, who's about 6'3/6'4 and over 300lbs couldn't even restrain her from beating on me like she was. IMO that's not cowardly. Its self defense.
