    Of course they do.

Whether you think there's too many titles now or even tiers of them, the fact that someone holds a title means they are atleast among the very best in their region or the world.

As far as my opinion on world titles goes.. I think they would be best going back to 3 titles (like when it was WBA, WBC and IBF).

Most definitely they should immediately abolish all "tiers" of a championship. For instance this "regular" and "super" champion stuff is nothing but garbage, designed purely for the authority to make a bit more money from a "title" fight that otherwise would be a runner up.

Larry loves playing Haymon's fool. It's a love affair of romantic proportions.

Not lately, but they should. If there was only 1 World Champion per division they would.

The alphabet orgs will just make them at their own convenience. Things like nationality and marketability have as much do to with getting title shots as ability nowadays. They're not meaningless, but have lost so much luster I don't consider them meaningful either.

                no.

there are several per division, and they aren't even awarded to the several best fighters. the rankings mean nothing, they'll split or strip a title to suit an agenda. hell, the WBA literally has several champions of it's own in a division at a time.

virutally every sanctioning body has had serious controversy in it's time. the most famous, the WBC, filed for bankruptcy after a law suit. i'd have to google it to give you more details.

the answer is no. they shouldn't matter.

they do obviously shape boxing, however. that doesn't mean they should.

Fighters can say no, and should when their adviser wants them to walk away from what would easily be their biggest payday.

Let's not act like Quillin is constantly chomping at the bit wanting big fights. He has made excuses why he shouldn't fight anyone worth a damn for a long time.
