Kovalev needs too much space to set up his shots. BHOP's inside game is going to be a nightmare for him.

I sensed a lot of frustration from Kovalev in the Agnew fight, the longer it dragged on. It wasn't so much "Oh no, Kovalev is ready to blow! This guy is just making him madder!", but more like... Kovalev looked genuinely out of ideas until that body shot, as if he was just going through the motions by punching away and hoping something would hurt. Sure, he found that body shot eventually, but Hopkins won't just open up and offer his stomach like that. No fuckin' way.

Kovalev's only chance is to go full-on Maidana, charge in, not get caught with something ****** (eg. Caparello) and hit everything available - legal and illegal. No boxing from the outside, no trying to be cute and time the old man. He has to be that nasty Russian brute everyone makes him out to be. It worked as well as it could for Maidana, so...

difference is Agnew totally shelled up. Hopkins hasn't seen power like this in awhile. Comparing Kovalev to Cloud, Shumenov, or Pavlik is a mistake. If Hopkins thinks he's going to win by shelling up and countering every time Kovalev attacks I can't see him doing much to win rounds. Kovalev can outbox Hopkins the same way Dawson did. He can overpower Hopkins the same way Pascal did in the early rounds and he can outhustle him like Calzaghe did. Kovalev can box. he's not a one dimensional power puncher. He finds his range and next thing you know he's forcing his opposition back. The power is real with this guy.

Kovalev's attitude going into this fight reminds me of his mindset before facing Sillakh. The whole "I'm finally getting my chance to give you what you had coming" no bull**** attitude knowing if he stayed focus the opportunity was eventually going to present itself and now that it's here you can see the joy in his eyes that he knows the world will finally know who he is.

part of the reason your hero hasn't been stopped is becuz he rolls around like a sissy claiming foul whenever hes hurt or needs a breather. plus he holds and holds making it hard to hit him with anything. your hero is unfortunately an atg tho,,Ill give him that so don't cry too hard
