If anything, the social media era has made kids who reach adulthood think following a boxer or not is a question of your "maturity".

You don't need to be a fan to respect his talent. I guess it would have been nice to see him use that talent against the fighters he should have, and without his own double standards.

If you do a background check on my circa 2007-2008 posting days, you will notice me to be a Floyd fan. A nuthugger if you will. I was in my early 20's, heck I even listened to Hardcore Rap. My grammar also wasn't up to snuff. But things have changed. You know - as you get older you get wiser, get a better job, your politics change slightly as well. And so on and so forth.

But what about the new generation of Floyd fans? Are they just a bunch of degenerates stuck on being permanently ****** or what? A bunch of E-criminals and E-thugs with a slight touch of Afrocentrism. Do we blame the rise of Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram as well as smarthphones) for this dumbification? We probably have 40 year old Floyd fans on here who cannot be distinguished from the 20 year old ones.

What sociopolitical factors are there to consider?

I believe in your case it's a sign of maturity .
But speaking for others is a bit much.
You hit it on the nail with the description of some of his fans but you know what?

That description fits many other fighters fans too.

One can be mature and see things exactly for what they are and still be a fan.

nope......not being a fan doesn't make you mature.....thats the dumbest ish i ever heard in my life. there are plenty of responsible and mature people who are fans of floyd's because of his boxing skills and what he has done in the sport. you're giving yourself way too much credit just because you "stopped" being a fan.

I don't respect a lot of people I know that like Floyd. The like him cuz he's undefeated and acts like a rapper. Talks trash, wears nice ***elry and has a bunch of flashy cars. Then when we are watching his fights, they sit there bored after 4-5 rds. To make it worst, I remember hearing them cry about Lara not going toe to toe with Canelo as if Floyd goes toe to toe with anyone. They all secretly love fighters who go out there and **** but just to justify being a Floyd fan, they start talking all that boxing is about hitting and not getting hit bs. This is possibly one of the dumbest thing I've ever read on this site. Pick your favorite fighter and you're likely to find a drug addicted, womanizing, ********, loudmouth, rapist, who thinks they're the center of the universe. However, supporting Mayweather makes you some kind of sociopath? When your profession is punching someone in the face, it doesn't take much for you to stray from decency and moral standing. If you think your maturity is in question maybe that should have been an inner thought rather than getting on here to write about it.

Typical May fans in my opinion: I think most of them are not even black but wanna be black kids who even to showering and to sleep go with their fullcap on and they listen to Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and the same kind fake hip-hop party artists. They just like May on fb or twitter or whatever because he is fashionable and he instantiates the rich, exhibitionist, swaggish, yolo lifestyle which they all want to live so bad. They think everybody is respectful who has champagne and *****es, meanwhile they realize from boxing just the fact that May is the best and he is undefeated, that's enough for them, maybe they watch the May fights but nothing else and sometimes they don't even watch the May fights just weeks later they hear that he won again and they're satisfied with it, because the swag, black guy whom they liked on twitter and facebook still rules. So it's a little tricky because IMO most of the May fans aren't even real boxing/May fans, it's just cool to be a May "fan" for them and they pretend that they are fans of boxing and or Mayweather. For example if you mention them shoulder roll they would just stare at you blank as the space since they have absolutely no clue about May's fighting style. They aren't really active on boxing forums/sites, they justuse instagram, twitter and fb.

And now, ladies and gentlemen the typical Pactards as I imagine!: They haven't got many friends, the girls don't like them, they aren't really succesfull in life, they know everything about Pac, he is their hero, they have probably a Pac poster on their bedroom wall. They probably fapped in their life at least one time to Pac, and if they want to watch porn they just start a video on youtube with Pacquiao greatest hits. They are 100% sure about the May-Pac case is only May's fault and May maybe instantiates for them the rich, ace kid from the school who bullyed them verbally and/or just more popular then them. During a live Pac fight they're yelling wild and try to ape Pac's punches. Some of them has the same haircut as Pac's. They are sadly very oftenly active on boxing sites hence they are more in numbers than Flomos and they are more annoying either. For the record at least they actually follow boxing. All Pac fights but probably other fights too, so although they more annoying than the usual Floyd fans, they are at least real fans.
