    Four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, in the recent edition of ESPN's Golpe a Golpe, tested out Everlast's MX brand of gloves - which Floyd Mayweather Jr. has refused to allow Marcos Maidana to use in their rematch on September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather also prevented Maidana from using the gloves in their May meeting.

    Marquez says the MX gloves would make Maidana more dangerous, because there is less protection around the knuckle area, but it also increased the risk of suffering a hand injury. Marquez compares the MX gloves to the Cleto Reyes brand, which are regarding in the sport as "puncher's gloves."

                      Gloves issue?

                      In all of Maidana's previous fights (except Mayweather I), Maidana used his gloves of choice and his opponents welcomed his choice, and yet Maidana did not look superman with those gloves. Now the supposed best fighter of the world denies Maidana the same gloves of choice. Were Maidana's past opponents braver than Mayweather, or is Mayweather a coward?

                              Man I can't wait til Mayweather calls it quits. He makes boxing so boring. Following the lame loophole sagas of his fights feels like manual labor. He just has 0 excitement value.

                                  Are Pacquaio fans gonna agree with Marquez? I'd love to see this.

                                  Anyways... Sports Science should test out all these gloves and see what the power difference is. There obviously has to be difference since theyre made out of different materials and every boxer has their own preference.

                                      It not like mayweather using mx gloves so what the problem? ....does maidana just rely on no padded gloves to win?
