Floyd's PPV buys are barely breaking 800k and are doing worse by the fight. It's not 2011 anymore. Post-jail, without Cotto or Canelo in the ring with him, Floyd's PPV numbers will hover between 700k-800k. Cotto-Canelo is the second biggest fight that can be made in boxing today. You really think the second biggest fight in the sport only brings in 600k buys? Puerto Rico vs Mexico? C'mon man...

His fight against the next opponent won't do any better so they are wising up and putting it on regular cable in the hopes that HBO will pay some ridiculous amount of money that he wouldn't earn in a PPV fight to get Alvarez back on their network.
According to "a los golpes" ESPN deportes they said Canelo Lara Made 435K so I don't think that is the case.

canelo/cotto would do close to a million. whoever said 600k is a complete idiot

canelo has run out of PPV level fights. no big deal. although he should have lost his last fight. mayweather exposed this guy. lara won the fight by doing close to fcking nothing.

I don't think I'd be looking to fight Clottey. He makes for a frustrating night, and he's not easy to look good against.

That said, the damage that Canelo would do to Clottey's body, might just cripple him.

You sure it sells a million? Cotto went over a million with floyd and manny, canelo only with floyd. On their own they have not topped 450k.

I get the Mexican pr rivalry is a strong selling point, especially if it's Cinco de mayo weekend.

Could be tough for these 2 attract enough mainstream us purchasers to hit that mark.

This is a very good thing. Canelo had better start having some better performances and match ups if he wants to stay on PPV. Mayweather, Angulo and Lara were all snoozers and I was seriously considering passing on Canelo's next PPV event (which would be unusual because I generally buy all the PPVs).

Any time fights are being aired on regular network tv is a good day for the fans.
