A showdown between super middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin is all but dead, the promoters for each fighter told ESPN.com.

Never heard of the no extension offer bro. Not saying you're lying, just that I must have missed that 1.

Chavez Jr. went over this in better detail. Jr. accepted the deal for the fight at $6 million but he didn't want to extend a deal with Arum. So Arum offered Jr. $2 million. Jr. then said he would not take 1/3 of initial offer and Arum never offered anything more than that. This was a sought after PPV card and the headliner was only going to get $2 million??? Many guys have made around that without PPV. Chavez said he was willing to accept a bit less than $6 million without the extension but not the lowball offer. Even Sr. told him to turn it down. Basically, Arum tries this with everyone of note when their deal is ending. They will only get what they are worth if they sign an extension. He did this with Bradley and failed when he tried it with Mikey and Chavez Jr.

            That sounds about right.

Arum basically wanted him to sign an extension or else give up his rights to most of the PPV money.

I believe Chavez, Jr. would defeat Anthony Dirrell, JCC is a big guy and he can take a punch, while Anthony doesn't have that good of punching power. Andre on the other hand I think would mop the floor with Chavez, Jr.

Maybe Jr is just afraid that Arum turns the ref and the judges against him...
Dirrell doesn't seem to be a big threat per se and Ward hasn't the punching power to mop the floor with Jr -- who was never dropped.
