Comments Thread For: Hearn Books Joshua-Bakhtov For WBC Regional, 10/11

Anthony Joshua will have his first title fight when he takes on Denis Bakhtov for the WBC International Heavyweight belt at the O2 in London on October 11.

Joshua's big night comes on a packed card, live on Sky Sports, which also includes Lee Selby taking on Joel Brunker in a final eliminator for the IBF World Featherweight crown.

Bakhtov is a two-time holder of the WBC title and recently claimed an eight-round win over German Konstantin Alrich, who Joshua will come up against in Manchester on September 13, also live on Sky Sports.

These are good step up fights.

Airich can punch a bit and Bakhtov has competed at fringe world class.

Joshua seems like a good bloke - I hope he makes it to the top.

Bakhtov is small but he's tough and comes to fight.

Poor card for the 02, this was supposed to be a super show.
Selby headlining who isn't local and can be fairly boring
& Joshua shouldn't really be chief support yet.

Yep, I agree. I was gonna go to this as Hearn said it would likely have DeGale in a big fight and Clev/Bellew & Haye were also mentioned.

I like how they are bringing him along. david price was fed a few scrubs, then he cleaned out the domestic scene but Maloney's mistake was jumping him from british domestic fighters to a legit top 10 opponent. I never did understand that move by frank\Kallie. especially for a guy\girl who steered lennox lewis' career. with Joshua they fed him a couple scrubs then put him in 47 year old matt skelton who had seen better days. airich & bahktov are nice step up fights so let's see how he does wit hthem first before they rush him in against a contender. joseph parker & Anthony Joshua are being brought along the same way. minto is about the same level as bahktov. the bakhtov fight will be either 10 or 12 rounds. that is a big step up. Hughie fury has kind of been put on the back burner for now...

I like John Ryder, and he's in a very good and dangerous fight. Khomitsky did a job on Buglioni and gave Murray a run for his money. Good step ups for all the home fighters but card lacks a real stand-out fight or a big name in a meaningful fight.
