I've spent my entire boxing fan life hating on Hopkins.

You can't hate on him for this fight unless he comes out in round 1 trying to get Kovalev disqualified. In an era where no one fights anyone, Hopkins is 50 years old and went after Sergey Kovalev. That's admirable.

I have the same opinion as you do, exactly. He stayed milking those weak Middleweight defenses. Not ONE of those defenses were against someone very good. Tito doesn't count, whom was a Welterweight / Jr. Middleweight. BHop made his name off of bullying the big names moving up two weight classes to fight him. Tito / Oscar / Pavlik / Winky / etc. Some considers him "old school", but have you seen James Toney hit and hold or whine from a fake injury? I think not. He claims to be special. But what's so special about schooling mediocre fighters in a weak division? He's been very smart with matchmaking. He's targeting slow, one dimensional, non-athletic fighters, is what he's doing.

Well, the Pavlik, Taylor, Pascal wins were good wins against good fighters.
Even the win against Tito was a good one, even though Tito had to step up in weight. It was still the great Tito Trinidad and Hopkins looked sensationall in that fight. Masterfull performance. Same against Pavlik, another masterfull Performance. And dont forget his great win against Glen Johnson. He was the first to beat Johnson and did it by knockout. That was actually one of his best and spectacular wins. Of course he fought verry different back then and had more power and energy but today hes one of the most intelligent fighters there is. He is like a Fox.

He's never schooled any decent boxers, only one-dimensional fighters who came straight at him. Each time he step up against talents, he came up short.

People treat Winky Wright like he's a boxing god - Hopkins schooled the daylights out of Winky, the same with Tarver.
