Dude seriously pick up a history book to learn the answer to that...spanish is a language based from spain and no other place. The spaniards also used the islands such as dr/pr/cuba/etc as ports which is where the language inundated the carribean. Mexican's native language has not always been spanish...

I know my history. Spanish derived from the "Latin" language. Yup mexicans language was azteca and then when the spain settlers came to mexico city, spanish from spain was used. Puerto rican's language is a mix of taino indian and spanish from spain.

If you aren't from spain directly you are not spanish..you are hispanic the derivative of the "Hispanola settlers". It's an identifying marker that while yes you do speak spanish you aren't not a spaniard. Either way I don't have a dog in this fight feel free to call yourself whatever you feel comfortable calling yourself. This is more for the folks who don't actually know the history that'll pass your discussions and may want some clarification it.

I didn't switch anything. You mentioned Tony weeks of their first fight. You brought up the spanish/hispanic stuff. I never said tony weeks "protected" floyd in the cotto fight. I said that Weeks gave BOTH fighters warning in the maidana fight. In the cotto-mayweather fight, floyd constantly held, but BOTH fighters were not given any warning, he was letting them fight it out just like the maidana-floyd fight. Don't put extra words in my mouth.

I feel you. But the majority of Hispanics dont call themselves "hispanic". Thats just a fact. I just go with im puertorican. Usually when you ask someone what they are, they just say the country they are from. They dont really say spanish/hispanic. I do get you though about the clarification part

Floyd looking for a KO is one way to get himself KO'd. Fight your fight and stop with the bullshhh...this is how HOF's end up having fked up nights. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Maidana play possum at some point in the fight if he thinks Floyd is looking for a KO genuinely. Fighter need to fight with the style that suits them best, changing that shhh up to please people is never a smart idea.
