It took a prime Kelly Pavlik 9 rounds to break down Rubio (w/o a knock down), and Chavez & Lemieux never had Rubio in serious trouble. That would tell you this fight should go long, however Golovkin has a habit of stopping guys who've never been stopped.

Rubio has a great short punch, like the one he caught Lemieux with in the 4th round and the one he stopped Spada with, but overall his punching power is a bit overrated. He's stopped some quality journey men late in fights by breaking them down over the rounds. Golovkin didn't respect Geale's power, I imagine he'll have more respect for Rubio and not get crazy like Lemieux did.

Should be a fun fight, and make for good brand building for Golovkin to help him get better fights with more fans. Probably fight Soliman next in February, be the same thing as this fight, cracking another tough yet overmatched veteran. Hopefully he then gets a real test like Froch in June/July.

It's time for GGG to tighten up his defense against right hands! He has been open far to often and I thought by now it would have been corrected, its not!
He is not using his shoulder and at times is actually showing a "profile"!
He has gotten away with it so far but if Rubio does come to "try and win" we may see GGG finally get hit with a meaningful shot!
Its time to tighten that D up!

Up to this point he hasn't have to... Not that he has no defense, but he didn't need to defend too hard against scared opponents...

Anyone who expected Roy to go overseas to fight him were delusional. Let's not forget Roy also moved up 25 pounds and won the heavy weight title as well.
Floyd makes guys come down in weight in divisions he holds belts in and has fought numerous times previously. He's also avoided the only guy in his division that had a very legitimate chance of beating him for the last 5 years. Roy fought some bums for sure but he was no Floyd Mayweather....
Roy did a lot of hand picking, just not to the level as Floyd. Roy winning a heavyweight title, I don't give a lot of credibility to. John Ruiz was the biggest, slowest, stiff at the time with a belt. You needed to drive a stake in the ground to see him move. I take my hat off that Roy thought that out, and chose to move up that way. But there were at least a half dozen guys beneath the Heavyweight Division that could have gone up to defeat Ruiz. I would love to see Bhop go fight Wlad Klitschko. Much different level of Heavyweight talent, but I think Bhop is just genius enough, he'd know how to beat a guy that big, strong and still near his prime.

Rubio is one of those guys who looked 50 the day he turned 20. He's a very tough fighter I wonder how much looking like an old geezer has negatively affected his popularity.

Who really gives a **** when really none of them could ever fight one another . It's nothing more than fantasyland. Let's have one ranking per division then it means something. There nothing to even debate about who's who in P4P! I'm interested in reality , but for those that want to post their well thought out, personal P4P list is juvenile at best. That's like saying, okay, here's MY all time P4P list:

                    1) Muhammad Ali
                    2) Ray Robinson
                    3) Ray Leonard
                    4) Marvin Hagler
                    5) Mike Tyson
                    6) Julio Cesar Chavez
                    7) Evander Holyfield
                    8) Salvador Sanchez
                    9) Joe Louis
                    10) Alexis Arguello
                    11) George Foreman
                    12) Roberto Duran
                    13) Tommy Hearns
                    14) Joe Frazier
                    15) Larry Holmes

Wow! Neat-o! Now what??? Is someone going to argue with how could I possibly have Tyson ranked ahead of Alexis Arguello?!!? How could I have Chavez ahead of George Foreman??? LOL!!! It's ******. Just calling it "Your Favorite Fighters of All Time", is more credible than this hokie P4P list.

                    heres an extra

Most don't have that mentality today. GGG isn't going to take Rubio lightly; who would. He's a huge guy, has a ton of KO's, has fought the best competition out there. Gennady is getting better with every fight. This will be a war while it last, but despite the KO Power Rubio does have , Gennady just has the extra gear to impose his will on a guy, and beat them down to quit. They better hope Jermain Taylor doesn't beat Soliman, then get a shot with GGG, and all the medical issues Taylor has had. The fight I really want to see is Canelo-Gennady.
Well said, GGG should just run guys over like hagler did
