This will be a war while it last, but despite the KO Power Rubio does have , Gennady just has the extra gear to impose his will on a guy, and beat them down to quit. They better hope Jermain Taylor doesn't beat Soliman, then get a shot with GGG, and all the medical issues Taylor has had. The fight I really want to see is Canelo-Gennady.
Stop comparing this hype job with the great marvin hagler, a prime hagler would have ran him out of the ring. He has done nothing and fought no one of note,he doesn't have haglers skillset and toughness, nor has he reigned for any length of time to be remotely compared to hagler, to do so is boxing blasphemy. Lets see him in there with someone like froch for starters that will be a real test rubio may make it interesting at certain points but I doubt he will win if he cant hurt ggg, if he can hurt ggg and back him up we may have a very interesting fight. But a marvin hagler he is not and charting the same waters in terms of career path like marvin hagler is laughable hagler didnt get his first title shot until his 49th fight imagine how many title defenses he would have had if he had gotten his shot at around 25 fights which is the norm today? Marvin then went on to reign for seven years (until he was robbed of his title in the leonard fight) by beating all challengers and in most cases convincing, dominant and brutal fashion, everybody from boxers, boxer punchers, to one punch ko artist hagler crushed and or dominated, all time greats included. Dont compare this guy to hagler, he is not hagler and will never be, he does not have the toughness, determination, skillset, physical and mental makeup of hagler.

Golovkin isn't the fighter Hagler was, but Hagler went through the same bull**** wait to get a title shot that Golovkin is facing.

I wonder how many moron fans back then blamed Hagler for not fighting anyone like they do Golovkin, rather than blame the fighters who won't fight him.

If Golovkin stays at middleweight, he could end up with a Hagler-lite type career.

I take my hat off that Roy thought that out, and chose to move up that way. But there were at least a half dozen guys beneath the Heavyweight Division that could have gone up to defeat Ruiz. I would love to see Bhop go fight Wlad Klitschko. Much different level of Heavyweight talent, but I think Bhop is just genius enough, he'd know how to beat a guy that big, strong and still near his prime.
Ruiz proved to be one of the more consistent contenders of his era. That proves how bad the division has been since around that time, but Jones beat Ruiz a hell of a lot more convincingly than most the best heavyweights could ever manage to.

And you're smoking something narcotic to think Hopkins could ever do anything against Wlad Klitschko. He'd stand no chance at any point in his career.

Except Roy fought the three other greatest fighters of his generation around his weight. (you know who they were)

More like a hagler extra lite career, maybe. There are no mugabis, roldans, hearns, leonards or durans etc for him to fight. The truth of the matter is I believe mugabi, roldan, hamsho and a few others would have soundly beaten ggg, he is just not on marvins level period. I will go as far as saying pavlik beats him as I have elaborated on in previous posts, pavlik punched just as hard if not harder and was just to tough and relentless. You need more than just a big punch to beat a prime pavlik he proved that against the likes of miranda and rubio. But ggg is a decent fighter and a good guy but he will never be an all time great in my opinion, maybe a hall of fame fighter but he is even far from that at this point. Hall of fame maybe but all time great never, he will eventually be exposed im confident of it. But he may need to move up for that to happen nothing or noone in the MW division is capable of doing that, he would kill jacobs, kid chocolate beats jacobs at this point in my opinion and ggg beats them all, the division is just to weak to present a real challenge he will need to move up to find a career defining fight in my opinion.
