  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Pacquiao-Algieri Reminiscent Of Dempsey-Tunney

For every fight deemed by the viewing public as a potential mismatch, those involved will come up with any number of past upsets in pointing out that fights are fought in the ring and not on paper.

In promoting the upcoming November welterweight bout between Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten Chris Algieri, Hall of Fame promoter reached all the way back to the 1920s to draw a proper parallel.

If you say so Bob - more reminiscent of another Top Rank vs Top Rank fighter.

Pacquiao is a 14-1 favorite. Didn't Arum call for a boycott of Mayweather vs. Maidana I, when Floyd was a 15-1 favorite? "People in glass houses..."

In defense of the match up, Algeri is undefeated and has beaten at least one legitimate contender. So we don't know how good he is or isn't. That said, Uncle Bob is laying it on thicker than Cherokee's ass.

All non-p.orn fans feel free to look up Cherokee D'Ass to make it make sense.

floyd opened 8-1 over maidana, not 14-1.

I'd rather watch posters Tunney (freedom 2014) and Dempsey Rollin battle in a thread for 36 minutes than this fight.
