He can't buy out his contract like Floyd did with arum?
Andre Ward is under contract until Nov. 8, 2016

Typically there is a minimum number of fights that have to be given to a fighter in a contract, for example Rigo was owed 1 more fight in his contract even after Bob wanted to drop him when HBO dropped him. It goes the other way also, Chavez Jr is still on the hook for 1 more fight under his contract with Arum.http://******.craveonline.com/news/3...ith-andre-ward
No wonder he is trying to get out now. Are there any fights that have been even offered by Goosen?
Can he sue if he is not offered a fight from now until then?
I don't know but it seems kind of wrong for the guy to be sitting on the shelf like this. Is there a minimum number of fights he should have per year in his contract?[/B]
There's no way he would shelf Ward for the whole contract, he just fought 3 times to keep him under contract bc he makes a lot of money every time Ward fights. He would be giving up on close to $1 million if he didn't offer him another fight until late 2016Comment

Ward was offered several fights and rejected them all. Ward seems to think he deserves PPV money when thats just not how it works.
The more he sits on the sidelines the less people care. He just needs to swallow his pride and get back in the ring. Shame to see his talent go to waste because he keeps going to court (and apparently is going to stop).Comment

That was in april when he lost the arbitration. Add on about 4 months to that (if they agree to work together starting today) so he should be a free agent in March 2017. The longer Ward keeps this up, the longer his contract is extended by the same amount of time.Comment

The guy can't sell out venues in his home town but things he deserves Cotto or Canelo type money. He's delusional. He is in his early 30's and doesn't have many fights left in his prime, he needs to suck it up and get in the ring.Comment

Just fight Ward, you're not doing boxing any favors by doing this. You got $2mil to fight Rodriguez...Comment
