Comments Thread For: Kell Brook is Pumped About First Defense in Sheffield

Newly crowned IBF world welterweight champion Kell Brook is relishing the chance to defend the title in his home city of Sheffield.

Brook took the title from Shawn Porter in California last weekend with a stunning points win on enemy turf, and the unbeaten star is set to defend the belt for the first time in the Steel City, with December 6 the likely date.

The 28-year-old met the city's Lord Mayor before greeting a packed crowd of supporters at The Winter Gardens as he received a hero's welcome, and he told them that their support was crucial in driving him to victory in the States.

Well go ahead and take a home defense. Hope it's an interesting opponent, but I think they're building up a big domestic fight for next year

I wonder if Hearn has the balls to make Brook-JMM and Khan-Bundu before a stadium fight next summer if both British guys win. Risky but would be a really good show in preperation.

This is awesome. Maybe Brooks first defense could be on the undercard of an Amir Khan live workout.

Marquez will literally want a king's ransom to go to Sheffield.

              Never happening.

I disagree, that card in itself could easily be a Sky PPV and fill out a large venue like whatever the MEN in Manchester is called now.

JMM showed a desire to fight the winner of Brook-Porter, and it's obviously a title shot for him. He's not got that many options left either, cos he clearly doesnt want a 5th Pacquiao fight. Is the likes of Alexander, Guerrero, Thurman or Rios likely to be a better option for him? Rios might be a bigger payday, but all of them would be less prestigious than fighting for the title.

Hearns not going to do anything for Khan because he doesn't promote him.

I'm telling you right now that there is no way Eddie Hearn is paying JMM to come over here, he won't, when he can pay Bundu a quarter of the amount.
